does this lock in any way, you know, lock shut so the s*it doesnt fall out?
The crank reel has the ability to fold down when not in use, however it does not lock. Nothing will fall out once the grinder is closed as there's no holes on the top of the grinder. I hope that answers your question :)
Best grinder ever
This grinder takes grinding to the next level. It works flawlessly as long as you don't over load. Its quicker to do two smaller grinds than one large one, be safe

I'm very pleased, it works great as long as not over filled and the glass top allows you to see when complete. Fluffs even the dryest herb and empties easily, and the crank handle is the cherry on top.

The hand crank makes this very easy to use even with arthritis. The knob on the crank flips down so it is flat with the lid, I love this feature. Comes in a bag to store it in. Everything is well made.

Great gadget, but.
Great gadget, only down side is after 2 uses the 3rd time it gave put and I snapped the handle off which makes it grind no more. If I can get replacement parts or lid 5 stars, without the availability of replacement tops 4. But hey, still holds dry.
